Daedeok Innopolis, established in 1973 as the first government-funded research park, is a technology cluster where more than 70 world-class research institutes with over 20,000 researchers and several higher learning institutions and numerous other governmet-funded institutes and private R&D centers including KFE (Korea Institute of Fusion Energy) and KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology).

Daejeon is strategically positioned as a transportation crossroads connecting the contry’s north, south, east, and west. Thanks to its strategic location, it’s easily accessible via the KTX Train, taking just about an hour from Seoul and also less than two hours from Busan. As a perfect stopover for travelers, the inspiration for “Daejeon Blues”, an iconic Korean song in the 1960s.
